OBJECTIVE:
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to identify odd and even as well as work with them comfortably.
ODD NUMBERS
When a number is divided by 2 and it gives a remainder of 1, the number is said to be an odd number.
Odd numbers are not seen in the two times table. They end in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9.
Examples are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 45, 127, 2369, 33033, 101 . . .
EVEN NUMBERS
When an even number is divided by 2, there is no remainder. Even numbers are numbers in the two times table. They end in 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0.
Examples are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 46, 932, 10258, 5620 . . .
